Hi please help me i have an acuson xp/c and when i turn on the ultrasound apears a mesage : protype system software not for diagnostic use ,this mesage apears when the transducer is unpluged, when i plug the transducer apears an other mesage:software sonó pack for right and left transducer has not been liscenced please remove the transducer. I think probably a batery is dead because the time and date changed. Is a batery exist where is located? What can i do ?
Manuel,
Definitely sounds like the batteries on the CVC board have run out of juice. The CVC (common video controller) is located in the top portion of the system (aka, Scan Converter). To access you will need to remove the two (2) Phillips head screws at the back/top of the system that holds the large white panel in place. Slide the panel towards the back of the system, then lift up to remove it.
Underneath the white panel will be the monitor area, as well as a metal plate that covers the Scan Converter. You don't need to remove all the screws, just the ones that hold it down, and even then you can just loosen these, as the panel has larger holes which allow you to remove the panel by sliding, and lifting.
Beneath that will be all the boards (and quite possibly a large foam pad, sometimes the foam pad gets corroded, and turns into a flaky tar-like substance that gets in Everything), find the CVC - it's located near the back of the system: CSI, CED, CVC.
If you have some way to desolder the batteries, just take one off to start... as you don't want to fully remove power from the BBM (battery backed memory). Here is a link to the batteries we have: http://www.u-d-s.com/productDetail.php?category=part&id=384
I only have a few left, and it takes a week or two to get more in, but the part number for the batteries is listed there.
Todd
thank you for answer, i found the batteries and i replaced for new batteries, the first message error disapears but the second one not yet i think i need to get in to service mode in the ultrasound and i have to reconfigure the transducers, what i need to do to enter to service mode? And what i need to do to reconfigure the transducers?
The 128XP uses Encryption Strings to license transducers, options, calculation packages, etc. These strings are serial number specific. Look on your machine for a piece of paper, or a print-out that has a bunch of weird looking sets of numbers/letters (example: 23 4A 6B 7C 8F CC D1).
To access the Encryption Strings menu, you will need to press a combination of buttons. CODE, SHIFT, V, and TEST keys will all need to be held down simultaneously in order to access the CSR (customer service rep) menu. With your left hand, press and hold the CODE, SHIFT, and V keys. With your right hand, press the TEST button once (or twice... or three times depending on if the machine recognizes the button fast enough), the TEST button is located underneath the monitor, behind a white panel - it will be labeled as Test and is a large, square, white button.
Once in the CSR menu, scroll down with the trackball to Encryption Strings, and press the soft-key corresponding with Select. Once you've entered all of the strings in according to how they look on the paper, press Save, and then Reset the system (Reset is to the left of the Test key).
Contact me via email (trenshaw at u-d-s dot com) if you are unable to find your encryption strings.
Todd
afortunatly the owner have the strings , thank you for tell me how to enter service mode, the ultra sound works properly, if you have a question in a future about xray equipments let me know it, my email is: chemaski@hotmail.com
To access the encryption strings, power the system up with no
transducer hooked and when you are on the imaging screen press
all at once :
CTRL+SHIFT+TEST+V
The test button is under the monitor near the reset.
Hi please help me.
I have an acuson xp128/10 and when I turn on the ultrasound apears a mesage : "protype system software not for diagnostic use".
This mesage apears when the transducer is unpluged, when i plug the transducer apears an other mesage:"software sonó pack for right and left transducer has not been liscenced please remove the transducer."
I think batery is dead because the time and date changed. I replaced new batteries but not same.
Turn on the power, the first message still apears.
We've been in email contact regarding your problem.
Hello Tod,
I am from Acapulco Gro. Mexico, a savage place for Ultrasound engineers or technicians (you have to call people in Mexico city to come and check your equipments because there is no one in this City).
This is the problem I have:
I owe an Acuson 128 XP/10 new skin, which has not worked for at least 3 years. Last time we used was working very well. Now when I turned it on, it shows on the screen only the following:
PRESS ANY KEE TO CONTINUE
1. FEB 06
2. FEC 01
3. CMB 30
4. DCP 47
5. DAQ 03
6. DC3 06
7. DSP 0C
8. PROMLOAD 05
9. DPR 80
10. TEST BOARD P00
11. TEST BOARD P00
And nothing else. Please tell me if there is a possibility to bring it back to life?
If by any chance you are taking vacations soon and would like to spend them in Acapulco, I will be very glad to offer you in exchange a place in Acapulco to stay for free one week, or as long as you wish to check or fix the Acuson
(please think about it, I have a small place for two persons right by the beach)
I'll wait for your help or the answer for my proposal.
Sincerely,
Dr. Navarro
That's a pretty heavy offer to refuse. Unfortunately I don't have any time off for the near future, but I can still provide assistance through the forums or email if you feel comfortable opening the system and performing surgery.
Since it's already broken... there isn't a whole lot of damage you can do to make it any worse.
Let me know and we can start the troubleshooting process.
It is a shame you can't make it to Acapulco, and to bad for my Acuson, but I of course accept your help.
I am not an engineer, but I have done things to my P.C,s, and as you say if it is already broken, what can I lose, right?. I am sure I can open it and remove and put back in place anything. I have read some of the questions they have made to you, and I have copied some of the pictures you have send them, so I feel confident that I can do something, and I am ready to try. As I am very busy with my patients, I will work on it any sunday the whole day, if you please tell me what should I start with first.
I thank you very much for your help.
First place I would start is checking to make sure the system is distributing power properly. For the most part, if there is a power supply issue, a small red number will appear on a 7-segment display at the back of the system. 7-Segment picture
If you see a number, let me know and I can check to see what could be causing the issue. It's sort of a two-edged sword though, since sometimes a PCB could be causing a power supply to fail. The easiest way to bypass these two issues is to remove a majority of the boards in the system.
Taking it down to a minimum configuration will allow you to focus on the boards that are required for the system to boot, as well as rule out the possibility that a board is causing too much of a power drain on a power supply.
For the 128XP/10.. there are quite a lot of boards. The system is divided into several sections: scan converter, scanner, power supply drawer, user interface.
The scan converter is somewhat self explanatory once you start pairing the scanner section with it. Boards in the scanner transmit and receive data signals sent/received from the transducer, the scan converter then receives that information and translates it into something that can be displayed on the monitor. The user interface section is pretty much the monitor/faceplate/keyboard/trackball area that you and I would review pre-processed images produced by the ultrasound system. The power supply drawer is located at the bottom of the system, and houses the majority of the power supplies in the system (aside from: scan converter power supply, 5v digital power supply).
I'll start with the scan converter, which is located in the upper-most section of the 128XP. To access the boards: Remove the two screws from the top plate (found at the back of the ultrasound). Slide the top plate towards the back of the system, then lift up and remove. The monitor will be exposed, as well as a silver cover. The silver cover is held down by a number of screws that need to be loosened (not removed). Once you have the screws loosened, slide the silver plate to the right (if you're at the back of the system, facing the monitor) so the screws line up with the larger circles cut into the silver plate. Lift up and remove the plate.
There may be a foam cover that has deteriorated over time and turned into something almost like tar. If that's the case, make sure you clean it out of the system, and any pieces that fall down into the card cage will need to be removed with great care. Since you'll be pulling most of the boards out of the top card cage anyway... this shouldn't be a big issue.
Boards in the scan converter: CSI, CED, CVC, CSC, FEB, FEC, DAQ, DSP, DCP, IC, CMB, OC.
Without going into too much boring detail, the minimum configuration for a color doppler system requires the following six boards to be in the scan converter: CSI, CED, CVC, IC, CMB, OC. The other boards are really only for modalities -- color Doppler, spectral Doppler.
To remove the boards: Lift up on both tabs at the edges of the board, continue to slide board out of the system until the tabs have cleared the card cage. You can then rest the tabs on the top of the card cage to keep the board suspended above the socket pins. This allows you to keep the board in the location it needs to be, but is removed from the motherboard and not recognized by the system.
Once you have only the minimum configuration to boot, you can try turning the system on. If you still have a bunch of boot errors, and power supply errors, write them down here and I can give you more instructions on how to access the Scanner card cage, and remove the boards in that area.
