Topic: Pulse wave mode and triggering to R wave

Dear UDS

System: Acuson Aspen

I want to trigger a scan of a brachial artery to the r wave of the ECG (which I can do) and then I want to go into PUlse Wave mode to get the doppler flow trace at the bottom of the screen (which I can do separately)

However, my issue is that the image then untriggers from the ECG and is pulsatile again (I need it to be triggered to the R wave so that I can do some offline analysis for flow-mediated dilatation).

Also, when I am in pulse wave mode, the image of the artery is small (at the top of the screen) and the pulse wave signal is very large and takes over half the screen -- is there a way of making the image much larger and the pulse wave trace smaller

Many thanks

Re: Pulse wave mode and triggering to R wave

Vikas,

I will need some time to research your first few questions, but I can explain the spectral sizing fairly quickly.

Please refer to the images below.

Enter the setup menu by pressing the Setup Key.

Scroll down to "Strip Modes", press Select.

Choose "1/3" size for Spectral Default:

Select "EXIT" to return to the imaging screen after changing the default size:

Re: Pulse wave mode and triggering to R wave

I'm trying to duplicate what you're saying, about how every time you go into pulsed wave it removes the R Trig. Checking the user manual and it says this about using triggers: "You can use triggers to update the 2-D or Color Doppler image at regular intervals. There are two types of triggers: timed triggers and ECG-based
triggers." It does not mention using spectral Doppler to set triggers on an ECG/AUX trace.

I do not think that the system has the capability to display all the information you need in both the 2-D and spectral Doppler modalities. I will continue to research this during my work today and see if I can find a solution, or a more definite conclusion.
