Topic: Power up errors

Hi, I'm writing from México, and I want some help. I have a 128XP10, when I turn it ON, some times give me errors some time doesn't. This is the errors that display:

CSC 28
FEB 28
FEC 28
FEC 80
DAQ 08
OC3 06
DSP 0C
Promload 04
DPR 80

Sometimes boot like nothing happens, but other show errors, others doesn't boot, and some times show errors but no image just a flashing square in the upper left

Reading this forums I did some work, I run the diagnosis of the equipment, the PM and NI test shows 3 errors: SCNR RCVR APD, SCNR MXK and SCNR Memory test

I try to look for the DBL and the voltaje test points, but I can find it

Please, can you help me figure out what's wrong with the ultrasound?

Re: Power up errors

A lot of those errors could be power supply related. Generally any time you see a huge scan converter section fail it's the Scan Converter power supply. Since it's intermittent I would recommend looking at the back of the system, on the 7 segment display whenever you get these power up errors. http://www.u-d-s.com/pictures/Forum/7segmentdisplay.jpg

The SCNR RCV APD and MXK tests are image related. I'll have to check on the memory test, maybe something to do with the scan control processor. Those errors shouldn't prevent the system from booting. However, if one of the boards is pulling too much voltage it can cause the system to appear locked on boot-up. The easy way around that of course is to try reseating the boards and see if there were any loose connections. Essentially just pulling the board out and putting it back in its slot.

I do that with most every system I have when there's an intermittent issue -- it may not always fix it, but it saves you a step when chasing down a phantom problem.

The voltage test points are on J5, J6, and J7 of the DBL board. The large white molex connectors.. I believe red is the 5v, blue is 15v, and the yellowish cable is 7.5v. That would have to do with the scanner card cage though, which doesn't seem to be the issue if you're getting lots of scan converter board failures.

Let me know what you find on the 7-segment display and I'll look up the power error code.

Re: Power up errors

Hi, the display appears 8 when turn it on. After multiple intents and time I can say warming up the equipment show no errors and nothing in the power supply display.

The voltajes in the molex connectors and the voltages are fine, red 4.89V, yellow 7.5V and blue 15V, I still can find the measure points, can you send me a picture, please. I dont know the voltages when the equipment shows the errors, cause it's in the morning and I not at work

Thanks a lot and best regards from México

Re: Power up errors

The error #8 refers to the Scanner Digital 5v power supply, which is located on the left side of the system if you're facing the monitor. The 5v digital supplies quite a few things... so if the voltage is intermittent that would probably be why you're getting so many errors.

To locate the power supply, pull off the left side panel (facing the monitor).

I would recommend not touching anything while the system is powered on, but you can check the +5vdc coming out of the supply through this area, or the back if you pull off the filter and the grate that the filter is in.

Re: Power up errors

The power supply shows +5V, it's there any thing else to check?

Re: Power up errors

Only thing left would be to check the Scan Converter power supply, but that requires opening up the machine, like a book. Take the measurements on the lower portion of the power supply, it's P24 on the scan converter motherboard.

Scan Converter supplies:
+/-12vdc
+18vdc
+24vdc
+5vdc

Re: Power up errors

let me see what can I do, because I'm not sure that I can do that
