Topic: Very interesting problem with my ASpen.

Hi!

Sorry for my english:)
I have the next problem with Acuson Aspen.
There are three transducers which behave equally.
For example, I put the first transducer on depth 100 mm - all ок, on depth of 110 mm on a picture start to appear lines and visualization becames bad.
I switch to 120 mm - all ок, on 130мм - all ок, on 140 mm strips again run.
Running strips appear only in the field of scanning with other inscriptions everything is all right.
Voltage on the power supply is ok - I check it with service manual.
What can you say ?
Big thx for your answers!

Kasparoff,

My sincere apologies for not keeping up to date on the forums recently. I am currently the main technician who comments on the forums and it was very busy during the end of the year.

If you are still experiencing this problem can you send me a forum PM and I will reply to you via email so you can send me the picture. Or... you can host it on a site like tinypic.com and post it on the forums using the "img" command tags (the icon looks like a small picture of a mountain with a moon/sun over it).

hi Todd!

Pls look at this:

I check the system grounding - its ok, noise from power supply is
ok too - i check it with oscilloscope.
There are problem with vertical boards at the right side.
Can anybody provide to me password for enter to engineering
diagnosis?

when I remove DCI board (for AEGIS) picture become more better
(reduce 80% on linear noise) but still some linear stickers as
shown on the foto the link.

thx for your answer.

Re: Very interesting problem with my ASpen.

You may need to contact Siemens directly to get a password for the Aspen to run diagnostics. Although, the video issue I see is affecting the grayscale bar as well as the ultrasound image. This could be an SVC or VPB issue, but I'll need to do some more digging to be sure.

To contact siemens, you can use their website at : www.medical.siemens.com

Select the appropriate company, and look for Service/Support.

Re: Very interesting problem with my ASpen.

Hi Todd!

The result of end of test (after entering service password) I have:

SVC - 0x621 - Failed - SVC2 Pixel Region Memory checksum test

What is this ?
SVC2 is broken and I need to buy another board?
Or it must be problem with one of two FSIMM memory onboard?

Re: Very interesting problem with my ASpen.

I don't do a whole lot of component level work with these units. If there's an issue we usually just swap the boards with known-working ones.

Odd that pulling out the DCI cleans up the image a bit though. Depending on how far you wanted to take it with the troubleshooting, you can try checking for cold solder joints, but I would recommend not removing the SIMM/RAM sticks. The SVC2 is sort of like the main memory board, battery backed RAM keeps the systems user-defined information alive while the system is powered down.

Same goes for when you swap the SVC2 with another SVC2. Anything you've modified will need to be re-modified -- date/time, grids, print control, encryption strings, etc. Also, the SVC2 serialized EPROM will need to be swapped to the new board.

I would recommend getting a printed copy of your encryption strings, as well as a digital copy of your presets (they can be saved using a tool in the CSR menu). Plus anything else you've changed on the system over the years.
