Topic: Acuson 128XP/10c booting to white screen.

Hi Todd,
I’m having problem with Acuson 128xp/10c. Boots up to white screen skipping normal boot process, pressing “I” doesn’t help, in the back on the segments briefly appears #7 error it is pointing to scan converter fan or over temp and faulty PDB 2 board.  All the fans are working properly.
Thank you,
Please help!

Re: Acuson 128XP/10c booting to white screen.

Yulik,

Just to confirm, the entire screen is white? Or just the scanning area? I think the #7 error is part of the boot up process, either that or it flashes the #1, then goes away.

If just the scanning area is white then it could be the IGD3 board. Try running the system diagnostics, that will probably give you a more definite answer as to whats going on. I've got a post on the forums that outlines how to access the manual diagnostics -- Onboard Diagnostics

Hi,
Yes entire screen is white, tried to go to diagnostics no luck. I think there was #1 error flash and # 7 none of them are displayed. What else can be checked?
Thanks.

Re: Acuson 128XP/10c booting to white screen.

Could be an Input Controller problem. I've seen that happen before when they go bad. I would recommend trying to re-seat the board (it's located in the top card cage - Scan Converter).

Other than that, do you have any spare parts/systems that you can pull a board from?

Thank you for the info. You are talking about OC3 board? I do have spare boards, not sure if they are ok but I'll try. What about s/n chip do I need to change it?
Thank you.

Re: Acuson 128XP/10c booting to white screen.

No, the OC3 is the Output Controller board. That governs the system software for the most part.

The Input Controller (IC2) is located a few slots behind the OC3. It should have a cable or two attached to it on the top.

Hi,
Today I replaced IC2, OC3 and CVC boards from a working system- same result-white screen, can’t access any modes. I also checked the voltages they are fine. What would be the next step? To replace all the boards in the scanner (upper) part?
Thank you!

Re: Acuson 128XP/10c booting to white screen.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that all LED’s are on as soon as flip the switch and just in few minutes only IC2 and DCP2 stays lit.
Thank you for your help.

Re: Acuson 128XP/10c booting to white screen.

Hm. Well, the 5 things that control video to the Monitor are: CSI, CVC, CMB, IC, OC. You've replaced the three ones that I was thinking could be causing the issue, so you're left with the CMB and CSI boards. The CMB is easy to swap, but the CSI is a bit of a pain.

I would recommend trying the CMB from your working system.. and failing that, swap over the CSI. It requires removing the back panel, a bunch of screws, cables, another panel, then lifting the board out... repeating the process.

Hi.
To make a long story short, tried to replace all 6 PCB’s any combination- no luck, and last try replaced CED and CSI and screen came back. Next day tried to put old boards back and it worked!!!!! Mystery!!!!
Thanks a lot for your help.

Re: Acuson 128XP/10c booting to white screen.

Definitely strange. Although, I've fixed things by just reseating them before too. Maybe something to do with temperature extremes? Heat expands, cold contracts, maybe pins lose connectivity this way...
