Topic: Sequoia c 512 "NO SYNC INPUT"

Is there anyway to fix that, or do I have to call a tech to come repair it??

Re: Sequoia c 512 "NO SYNC INPUT"

I try using Code Setup but it wont let me do that either. oh yeah and the keyboard has all the lights on.

Re: Sequoia c 512 "NO SYNC INPUT"

I've just recently seen this happen, and it was after I tried installing a new hard drive on a system, pre-software. As for why it's happening, I'm not exactly sure... has anyone done any work on the system recently? Any software reloads?

I'm not sure I follow you on the 'code setup' thing, to get into the service UI on boot, you need to hold the Multihertz toggle in the UP position, and press the "S" key on the keyboard. If you see "Keys Detected 15 B0" on the small LCD (upper left of the user interface) then it should boot into the service tool. Although the 'no sync input' issue could prevent you from seeing anything.

Do you have an external monitor that you can try attaching to the system?

Yeah we do have another monitor. On the monitor it just say no signal.

Re: Sequoia c 512 "NO SYNC INPUT"

Hm. Well, the only thing I've seen fix that issue so far is a different hard drive with a software reload. If that's something you don't have access to, you can always try reseating the cables to the hard drive/mo drive and check the connections on the PIC board at the rear of the system for any loose cables.

Unfortunately, to access most of this stuff you will have to remove some panels. Even more of a headache is the potential for further problems if your system does not have Third Party Service enabled. Removing the plastic panels on the system does not pose any risk, however, if you remove the aluminum interior covers (they'll have stickers on them saying "Warning") you run the risk of locking up the system in a continual reboot/service UI loop until someone disables the lockout.

If you DO have Third Party Service, then you will at least be able to open the side covers to reseat boards or replace boards if it comes down to that.

Let me know if you feel comfortable doing some service work to the system and I will get some pictures taken to illustrate where the hard drive may be, how to access the PIC connections, etc.
