Sequoia 512 Networking Issue

I am new to this machine but i am having some trouble configuring the networking side of things.  I have configured the hostname and destination devices but still can't ping anything.  I see in the service manual that you have to enable networking to take it out of stand alone mode.  I don't see that option under the network Setup to enable or disable networking.  Any help would be appreciated.
