Blowing the fans out with an air compressor would probably shoot the dust up into your system. Pulling the tray out is relatively simple.
When facing the system, the side panel on the right side needs to be removed (just the plastic one). There is a screw at the back of the side panel, that's hidden behind a filter which can be removed. Take the screw out, and pull the side panel away from the ultrasound. it's held on by clips that socket into spaces in the machine chassis. DO NOT REMOVE THE METAL PANEL THAT IS BEHIND THE PLASTIC PANEL. If your system does not have "Third Party Service" the system will boot into the Service UI on startup, and the fans will kick on high. You will then need to call Siemens to unlock your system.
The fan tray CAN be removed without any issues though, so make sure its ONLY the fan tray you're taking out: At the bottom of the system is the fan tray. It's held on by 3 or 4 philips head screws, and several power connections. They should all be labeled, most of which only fit in specific slots. The tray is semi-heavy, maybe 20 pounds... it's held together by screws along the outside of the tray itself, 4 or 5 screws.
